03 KX250 jetting
« on: August 01, 2013, 10:22:59 AM »
I'm sorry this is kind of a stupid question, but I'm riding my 03 kx250 in the woods and don't need the kind of power that the pro circuit pipe makes.  I have heard that the stock pipe (which the guy saved and gave to me) has more manageable power.

Could anyone tell me if this is true?  Also would I need to make any jetting adjustments?   I haven't jetted in nearly a decade so I'm not really sure where to start.

I'm also getting the 04 powervalve governor spring and a g2 adjustable throttle cam.  I can't afford a gnarly pipe.

I actually had the same thoughts on the 2000 I just completely rebuilt from top to bottom.

I strapped on a PC setup and wish I had gone the other way and went for a low-end pipe.I found I had to ride it hard and clutch the s**t out of it in the woods to get it to snap for me....sooooo,instead of spending another fortune on an exhaust....I ended up playing with the gearing a bit since I had several sprockets laying around.I'm at 12-48 rite now and it seems to be working for me.
Since you have the stocker...throw it on and see how you like it...and report back. :-D
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

For what it's worth...
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

as for my jetting...I'm as follows

Main 158
Pilot 45
Needle N3YE (4 steps leaner over stock)
2nd from top
Power Jet 48
Slide #7

I went much leaner over stock...I don't think my jetting will help you too much, because the 03 and 2000 have different setups I believe.

I know on my 03 with a PC pipe setup I geared mine way goofy 14 and 48 to get it to be able to control it in the woods.
