Air Box Cover
hughes:
Last week I just realized that My 500's air box cover was missing(just happened to be looking at parts on Kawasaki's web site). I just thought that the air box was designed with that opening just under the seat. I picked one up at the local dealer and as installing it I noticed that is says use only in wet condinations on the top of the lid. Is there any harm in running this lid all the time?

What airbox lid? Mine never had one from new! Cam.

It's the air box lid just under the seat and it slides up under the tank. It's an 87 KX500. With this lid off you look down into the air box and just see the top of the air filter. Maybe the lid is an option. With out this lid during washing water will run down in between the seat and tank and right into the air box. I guess that might be why they make a washing cover for the air filter.

Any harm in using it all the time? Any power loose? Any air flow restrication? Or should I install it just for raining riding or bike washing? Thanks.
