I?ve been doing some research on converting my 91 KX500 to a KX500AF. The Service Honda KX500AF that MXA tested. A 2009 KX250F chassis was used and looking at the some of the postings on everyone is using KX450F frames.
Can someone tell me the best way to start?
KX250F or KX450F frame?
Thanks

The450 has a little more room. But from what I've read, either is fine. I'm using a 250 as I was able to buy a complete rolling chassis. But if it had been a 450, I'd have gone with that too. Boils down to what's available I guess...

Okay thats for that info. So how is your project going?

Slow! :x Just not finding the time to dedicate to it. Working away doesn't help, nor does a 14 month old toddler. I'll get it together this winter. Just need to get all the info together before I take the frame to be welded up. Waiting for SH to get some pipes in too.

You have your hands full. Yea! I'm working a lot and trying to find TIME. lol.
I?m also looking for a rolling 450F chassis that?s not over priced. I did run across a KLX 450F. Looking a the part numbers the frames are the same part numbers but the sub frame are different part numbers
Is there something different?

KLX 450F has electric start the battery box and coolant overflow bottle is in the sub frame so the part number is different just a couple extra mounting points

Aww! Okay! Sounds like if I go with a standard 450F sub frame I should be in business. Great thank you for the info. :-)
