Title: F'n new guy with a 83 KX500
Post by: TTR on May 24, 2011, 03:42:33 AM
Hey all, thought I would post a pic of my freshly restored 83 KX500.  This is the first Kawasaki I have ever owned.  Finding parts for this thing was like mission impossible. Luckily, it was in decent shape when I got it.  I installed stiffer springs in the forks along with emulators and a gold valve in the shock.  Other than that it is stock.  I may have the head re-cut by RK-Tek, but so far no sign of detonation.

This thing vibrates and makes noises like no other bike I own.  It has a brutal low to mid hit.  I love it!  I didn't like the rear fender back in the day but now I think it is bad ass!  I will race it occassionally but mostly it will just look pretty in my garage.

Tim

Nice bike! I just got rid of a 83 KX125. I would have kept it if it were a 250 or 500.

That is a beautiful bike. I had an 80 KX420 I have lots of good memories of those days.

 Great job on the resto.
I really like the old school bikes brought back to life, keeps things in perspective, like how far the bikes have come.
And the fact you are probably still making more power than 98% of the bikes built today!
