What is the biggest available gas tank for the new '11 250F ? All I can find is a 2.9 gallon... I would like about a 3.5 gallon if possible. Or is there a numberplate auxillary tank or something out there. I keep trying to find something but come up empty handed... I will buy the 2.9gallon tank but need to carry some more fuel with ease.

acerbis makes a front number plate fuel tank, the one listed is .8 gal they used to make a 1.3 as well.

I see Acerbis makes a 3.3 gallon tank. That might do. I can get the numberplate aux tank too for the long days... As long as the tank is the same as the '09-'10 bikes the 3.3 should work fine.
-
I doubt it is the same, 09-10 were not fuel injected. they may come out with a 3.3 for the 11

I am definately going to check fitment. Is the fuel pump in the tank on the fuel injected bikes??? Does it bolt on with a big flange like the sportbikes???
-
very much like a sportbike, attached is a picture of my 09 450 don't have one of the 250f, but they look the same.
-
I sent Acerbis an email about fitment, they don't list the '11 gas tank. Mabye the older tank is what i am after anyway. I don't need the fuel pump for the 500 motor. Another shought is I might be able to gain some more fuel with the newer tank and bolt in another resevoir where the pump would bolt up.
How much clearance space is under the tank for a small resevoir. A small aluminum sub tank would be ideal as long as it doesn't superheat the fuel and cause problems... Can you get a camera shot of the clearance uder the tank with it bolted in place???
Thanks

Don, how is the tank rotated in that picture? Is that the bottom of the tank, or the top? On my EFI Gasgas, the fuel pump drops in from the top like an automotive tank.

A little disapointed with the IMS oversized tank for the 2011 KX250F. It seemed like the oring groove for the pump was a little shallow compared to the stocker and it was. Fuel ran out all over the floor of the garage overnight. I shimmed the o-ring up with some gasket material and I made a replacement (larger o-ring) for it next time it comes apart. I also gave it a pressure check just to make sure. If you buy an IMS tank for this bike check the machining for the pump and see if it is too deep for the o-ring to seal on the pump. If it looks suspect, don't use it, it will likely leak. I should phone them and see what the F(*K... The qualitly control was on glue that day. Other than that the tank seems to fit pretty good but I installed the Moose Racing radiator guards and had to trim some of the inner rad shrouds so the plastic would sit on the rads... The Moose Racing rear (shark fin) disk guard doesn't come with mounting tabs for the caliper guard either... Its a complete caliper holder/spacer/guard all in one. Why would they not have one on there, now I can't mount a caliper guard on it... stupid, the Kawi caliper holder has one, so should the Moose one.
