All,
I have tried to find a Kawasaki that will do the job for me but unfortunately there is none. I have ordered a H**da. I am sure it will perform like a dream!
I am expecting delivery today. I will post some pictures of the Ultimate Machine!
I can't wait, I am like a kid on Christmas?

This is refered to as "Premature Ejacumotocation".
It's when an idividual, for one reason or another, is in need of immediate gratification and, therefore, makes a hasty decision which he/she later regrets. As in buying a Red thumper or such when he coulda held out for the KX450F. Oh, well...to each his own. Some folks even like Montreal's hockey team.

The CRF450 is a nice bike...I had a 2002. Hell....everybody makes a nice bike. Be ready for a LOT of maintainence though.....hehehehe
-
I don't think so. Just some oil change and minor adjustments on a yearly basis. Honda builds reliable machines. Nothing new, just proven technology, crafted to perfection.
It's not that I don't like my KX5, it's just that I want something that I can use and abuse without having to spend a fortune on maintanace and tuning. For me H**da was the obvious choise.

If your talking a CRF,you ARE in for a surprise as far how much maintaince its going to take. And if your riding long distance, carry some oil!
-
Also note, my friend just purchased an '04 cr250f and just blew the tranny.. No reason why and it is a no warrenty deal. So, keep that in mind, they are very new and are going to have issues. I had a 426 not too long ago and it was just a bitch to keep up with. Just keep in mind and remember what mike said, keep oil handy at all times.
-
The "Hotter" the Thumpers are tuned, well, the less reliable they're going to be. My suggestion? WR450F...you can tune it to whatever level you want. I've got a KLX400 streeter for my "Light Duty" hauling!
Good Luck and keep BOTH oil levels filled and clean.

Sorry all, had to say some swedish word to John so he UNDERSTAND that he is making a huge mistake.
Why not a less ugly bike as the swedish thumper HUSABERG ?

Thought I would finally chime in on this post. Just over a year ago, my oldest son was racing a FREE CR450F, with FREE service and parts. He also recieved FREE race entries and gear under the same support. Unfortunately, the CR450F spent more time in the shop with head/valve problems than it did on the trail. Half way through the season, he finally got feed up with not having a trustworthy machine, and returned the sponsorship. Opted for a KX500 with less support, and was actually able to race and ride every weekend without having to have constant motor work.
Don't think this is a unique problem either. Two friends of mine just dumped their red rides because of constant mechanical problems (by the way, neither of these guys race, so are just trail riding on weekends). Both returned to 2 stoke bikes to eliminate the high cost of the 4 stroke repairs. After putting the second head on, one freind never started the bike just to be safe. Just traded it in and purchased a KX250.
A third friend who does race switched from a KX500 to a CR450f. Now this guy is on the big side, but still shouldn't be a problem for a 450. First race out lost the tranny. Pulled the 4 year old KX500 out of the garage.
Finally, the one 4 stoke that seemed to require less maintenance (except keeping the oil level full. A problem for a number of those "high tech" 4 stokes) was the blue bike. In a year of racing at the expert/pro level, no major maintenance was required.
The morale of the story: Make sure you keep the 500 so you will have something to ride while the Honda is getting repaired.
Good luck, and we will await your return to greeny heaven...

The blue bike has 5 valves and lighter springs which helps,so in a nut shell you cant have it all.Its going to be heavy, slow and reliable or lighter, faster and unreliable.Thats why we love 2-strokes...the best of both worlds!
-
Amen..

I have a Green thumper with 4 valves and a Suzuki vin-tag...

I have taken a picture of my new H*nda!
I have read the instruction manual; sorry guys but this is the closest you get to zero maintanance... I did order a green one, but they were all out of stock. Popular colour... I can probably repaint it?
Any comments?

O.K. is it a late or early April fools joke!I have to admit Honda has the best small engines out there!I love there oil alert system! You had us ALL going!

that was good......

You didn't really think I would buy a four stroke MX bike? Four stroke is for machines, not MX bikes... I might consider the KTM though...
-
LOL!!!

Boy, I haven't seen one of those Husabergs in a while. I've got an FX-600 that thumps all over everything else out there (2 or 4 stroke). Even out ran my '04 KX-500 in Baja (15/45), although it did take about 1 mile to catch up and that was in 6th gear running 16/45 on the Husaberg. But that Husaberg FC550 pictured above is probably the best made CR/MX four stroke on the planet. Certainly the lightest. Too bad those Swedes can't keep parts (or sometimes bikes) available in North America. I really want to buy one of those, but I'm not going to make the same mistake twice. I'll nurse my 600 to the grave and probably move onto a KTM 550 or something similar. At any rate, I just jumped on my buddies '04 YZ450F last week and I have to say, I was impressed. They've come a long way with four strokes in the past 4 years. Good luck with the Honda. See you on the hills.
