Hi, recently got a 93 kx250, big upgrade from the kx80 i had for screwing around. always liked the green bikes and always seem to find one for the best deal . I think ill fit in nicely here.
Heres my bike before the front sprocket came off and took out the shifter shaft. in the middle of stripping it down and repainting the plastics while i wait for parts

That should prove to be a modest power increase from your 80 :-D
Get her fixed up and ride it hard.
You'll have fun.

apart from the plastics that bike looks quite clean for its age. a word of advice on the plastics, i have never seen anyone successfully paint a set of mx platics, they may look good at first but be sure they will looking shabby in no time. i bet you could get a good second hand set from ebay or even stretch to a new set. you my be able to restore the orginals im sure some on here have some tips for you, keep us posted with you progress and pics ect, oh and any questions, fire away
best regards
john

DoldGuy
shoot should of checked before ordering the parts hope they`ll work, main concern would be the shifter shaft. thanks for the heads up though
-
I think DoldGuy is right.
If it's a 92 the 10th digit on your VIN number should be "N"
Your engine ID should start as follows: KX250JE------
Never hurts to double check before buying....

glad to be here :-D
Heres how it sits for now, waiting on the sprocket to take the basket off. i noticed the main gear on the crank seems to have some play, is that normal?
still waiting for better weather to paint the plastics and having a hard time removing the old paint so i dont think theyll turn out too well
sorry pics arnt the best.

Thanks for the pics.
It it sloppy on the shaft?
If so you should remove it to see if the gear is worn or if the shaft is worn.
The gear is a easy fix :-)
-
looking like ill need a new crank  hopefully it will hold before i decide to do complete tear down. basket bearings appear to be worn out ass well and who knows what else.

anyone used wisco cranks before? they are looking pretty good for the price right now
-
lol at the air filter :-D :-D
-
yeah haha. dont know why someone would put a filter like that on, looks more restrictive than the air box type. lucky the guy gave my all the parts to put it back to normal.
ordered some ufo plastic for the bike, will post some pics soon :-D
-
at least they gave you the parts to make it normal again.
that plastic will make it look new again :-o :-o be sure to post pics

nice looking graphics if it wasnt for the price i would be all over that, good last resort if i cant find something cheaper though.
and i hear ya on the seat but blue black and green is a little too much for my liking, trying to cut it down to just black and green. maybe if i come across a nice green&black seat ill buy it
