Hello to all, glad to have found this forum.
I'm no dirt rider, I'm a roadracer. Been riding the street for 27yrs. Rode '82 GPz750, '86 1000R, '85 GPz750 Turbo... you get the idea.
Started racing locally here in Alberta 3 years ago. Ran a Triumph 675 for 2 years and tried an Aprilia RS125 for 2010, and after many mods, got the bike to handle like a dream...but power was lacking. I had a dream of a super single 450 but it would be way too expensive to build and I don't know how it would handle our short tight track. I bought a '89 500 and I'm building a nasty single . Contraption (or abortion as some have called it) of my '09 Aprilia RS125 with proper KX500 running gear.
I think I'll call it NASTY 500

i really like this idea, I've been thinking about putting a banshee motor in a ex500.
keep us posted with pics. theres a lot of k5 info on here.

do you think you will need a bigger tire for the bike with the K5 power.

Given the RS125 has a 150 rear and a 160 that fits nice, I'd like to have a 180 on it but the whole (under)size of the bike will probably keep me from the 180 grip. My biggest challenge is reversing the RH chain swingarm to another LH one.
I just started taking the Aprilia apart last night, and when I'm done the KX is gonna come apart. I'm also thinking the KX swingarm may be adaptable and would give me an extra couple of inches in total length.
Will keep you posted in a new page soon...I have questions.
Thanks
Richard

Hey KRSX,
How did I miss you sneak in without me saying Hello & Welcome!
There are several guys wanting to build a single roadracer. I wish I had the Sheckles and the know-how. It sure sounds like a fun bike to run some twisties. Here's a site that I like to windowshop...

This looks like a fun bike, and they were gonna make a triple!
Welcome and keep us up on your project, Best of luck.
