Title: Polishing 06 hubs
Post by: JEREMYZDEAD on April 08, 2010, 10:33:18 AM
Got a new set of 08 rim coming so I was wondering if it's possible to polish the hub to a mirror finish? The rim and spokes are going in the trash.

Yes, it just takes small Dremel like polishing equipment.  It would be a hard area to reach with the wheel laced up, to keep it looking good.

You will never be able to keep them polished. The first one will oxidize white before you get the second one finished. If you do polish I would clear coat them or have them clear powder coated. Most all aluminum that is unpainted on a motorcycle is anodized to keep it from oxidizing. It would look go though.

I've done the frame. Where I sanded it with 1500 grit and water then hand polished with mothers. It stays nice for a little while if you ride the mountain( I keep falling when it's muddy). I saw a polisher in Walmart which looks sort of like the mothers polishing ball which would work perfect oon all surfaces of the hub. @jfab if I would send you a frame, how much would it be to fab the mounts and such for the k5 to fit?
