Title: Hello everybody, I'm new.
Post by: squeak on April 07, 2010, 01:13:33 AM
Hey guys, as the title says, I'm new here. I'm 23 years old and from south ga. I have a couple kx's. I've got a 2005 kx100 that I just finished building a stroker motor for and I should have it the rest of the bike put back together in a few day, I also have a 2008 klx450r, which isn't really a kx, but last week I bought a tanked kx500 and I really want to build a kx500af enduro now. Nobody get your hopes up because I haven't committed to this one yet, but its something I would love to do and I just can't stop thinking doing the conversion. Your site seems to have the most info about the af conversions I've found. I look forward to enjoying this site

Welcome Squeak,
Glad to have you with us.  There are plenty of different combinations that have been used to get the job done as I'm sure you saw in some of the threads.   I would love to have one myself.    Someday I'll get me a mig /tig outfit and fit one up .

I was actually thinking of putting the k5 motor in the klx frame.

I think that would be a great plan. I like the idea of lights and even a battery.

Only thing, when you change to the KX500 motor you no longer have a power source for the lights and battery.
Still, it will be a nice bike.  If you find a dependable power source let us know.

There aren't any lighting coils or anything avaiable for them?

Haven't seen any that are dependable, that have the wattage I need.

What happened to the e-line stator someone asked recently about getting some made or rounded up? :?

E-line quit making them.  I have 2, one on my dual sport K5, works great powers everything with one of the 2 100 watt leads.
The other one I want to put on my Service Honda K5 but it won't work with the Honda pipe they use.

I think there is site where they show you what you need and how to rewind your stator. Ronnies stators I think or check the other kx450f forum TT.

Well hopefully I can find a solution for me. I put another coil on my kx100 that I got from stealthy offroad but I haven't got it running yet to see how well it works, but I think its only supposed to make 35watts.
