Would newer kx450f super moto rims fit on my 95 kx500. I read some were that sumthing was diffrent but not sure what. I have accsess to a mill and a small lathe so I can make spacers and axles if need be.. Thanks for any help

i dunno too ,but i have an advice,
take your k5 wheel to your closest kawa mx dealer,
compare it to the kx450f wheel ,maybe there,s even one or two in maintenance atm ,
then it s prolly deadeasy to measure dimensions secure ,since the wheels are maybe out .
goodluck

that is a good idea. I want both super moto wheels and dirt other wise i would just have them relaised.

Rotor to sprocket are with in .065" of being the same with. That is the hard measurement to overcome. I would mill the slots in the swingarm to accept the KX450f axle, build new blocks, bore the caliper bracket and build spacers. Buy yourself two KX450F wheels and your are rolling. Pun intended! :-D

Or Put "oldstyle" bearings into the hubs like the K5. And maybe new spacers for the sumo set.
Than you can run the mx wheels to without modifying and less work.

Both very good Idea's. So i mite just get them any way and make them fit.

Rims will be here fri. :-D
-
Sweet please document everything you have to do to get them to fit as I will be doing the same most likley..

Ok I have the rims and going to do mic the bearings and order a new set with a 20mm center.
-
Of corse to get the same bearings as the dna wheels with the 20mm center bore is impossable. Well for 350.00 each I can get them from a aveation place :-o
I am going to run 1 6204 20x47x14mm on the brake side. It is only 2mm wider and I think I can get the seal to fit with very little work. The other side I am going to try a 20x47x20.6 in place of the (2) 12mm wide bearings and then make a small spacer 47mmX 3.4mm to take of the diffrents in the 2 12mm (24mm). I post pic when I get all the bearing

Here is the stock 20mm kx500 axles with custom sleave and 20x47x14mm bearing and 20x47x20.6mm bearing. I just need to make a 3.6mm spacer for the sprocket side to press in with the 20.6mm wide bearing to make up the diffrents of the stock 450f bearings.

good work muleman 8-)

The 450 rear rotor is to big so I modified it to fit.

I know this is an older post, but I am doing the same thing with my 03 kx500 using 09 kx450f rims. I have everything working so far but the rear rotor. I am thinking about the same thing that you did with cutting the stock 450 rotor but wonder how well it is working for you ? My other option is to have a local machine make me a custom one from scratch.

Ther may be another option, I have a braking 4 piston rear caliper that was for an oversized rotor, I might be willing to part with it, not cheap but pretty incredible stopping power.

if it will work for me, I would be very interested. My goal is to have my ice tires on rims and be able to swap them easily between my 250f, 450f and the 500. I have looked at brakings websight and didn`t see anything about an oversize rear, is this something they no longer make? can I use the stock master cylinder?
