the engine number is kx250he00059?

I checked my bike number today at the Kawi dealer.  On a KX500 you go by the Serial number,  on the frame at the steering neck.  He told me the 10th digit if it's a number it was made after 1999.  My number was 2 so it was made in 2002.  I should have asked about the engine numbers.
