Yes it is.
Very little port work, high compression (Shaved head) stock port timing.
Explosive power... Typical KX500
We will be taming it down a bit.
When done it will have a load of torque through the bottom to mid range...
No top end to speak of..
Just what Sean wants.
Although we are making one mod that will hopefully gain HP and Torque through the entire RPM range.
Can't release anything until the Dyno proves or disproves it as we are working with another vendor with a patent..  :-o
With this mod other bikes have shown a significant increase... But the KX500 does not always respond to mods the way other engines do so we will see....
More to follow  8-)

And... We need to bring the back end up to Groot specs so I'm starting another rear caliper project..
I'll do it close to how I did the last one but this one will be even stronger and cool better...

I spent a bit of time doing the rough porting the other day..
Today, Jason put his hand to the port tools and began to massage the cylinder..
No gloves, no eye protection... Nice Jason... Nice...

If he would like to know what it is like having bits of a grinding stone dug out of his eye I can help... It was pretty much the last time I didn't wear safety glasses while grinding.

Alloy dust in the lungs is the main concern when grinding like that  {even though i never wear a mask myself  :-)}

Not faulting your porting but grinding the tranfer diverders  is really old school
Look at  one of the fastest two strokes every built

Lol... Yes, you have mentioned that before.
What you see is not finished so don't read too much into it.
As you know, different bikes respond to porting each in their own unique way depending on what you are after.

Some of us have talked about doing a top end build off.
All we need to do is define what the parameters are then everyone build a top end with piston.
I'm thinking stock bore, stock port timing, and mod your Wossner piston however you want.
As for the head, we should all use the same head which it's parameters will be defined if we decide to do it.

I'll build the bottom end... Stock... and put every top end on it and dyno it.
This will be a lot of work but it would be a sure way to help clear up the muddy waters on what works and what does not work on a KX500.

Of course the parameters are subject to change if enough guys decide to participate.

Let me know who all might be interested in participating.

Oh... and we are modding the KX450F rear brake caliper that we are adapting to the KX500 swing arm.
It's rough right now so don't get excited  :-P

Bonus points if you can engrave the KX Guru logo where the Nissin logo was.
