So, it's been about 8 months now that I've been riding my bike and the cylinder hasn't been ported/polished or anything. I haven't had the cylinder head machined at all. I'm thinking that at some point soon I should probably get some engine work done to my head/cylinder to get the most out of my bike before I upgrade to a 250 next year. What do you guys suggest getting done outside of increasing the displacement?

Get the head machined for the right squish and port the cylinder , the 125 likes light reed tension .I have a vhm head on my 08 125 and is excellent , they even make blanks and they will make it to what ever specs you want as I did with my kx250 06 which had the cylinder base machined down and solved the pinging it had .the material in vhm heads are far better than stock.
