Title: KX250 Re-plate
Post by: GRARA on October 30, 2015, 06:35:55 AM
Ive just had my barrel re-plated on my 94 KX250..my question is..do i simply put barrel back on ( with new piston and rings) ...run it in and im good to go? or do i need to play with the jetting?

you need to check the ring end gap, and piston to cylinder wall clearances, to be sure they're correct before anything.
once you've done your heat cycles, and rode it leisurely around the block for about a tank of fuel....then you can do some wide open throttle chops, and see what the plug is telling you.

Run it at idol for the first 5 mins, 25% more is acceptable, then let it cool, then ride it at light throttle for a minim of 30 mins and let it cool and re torque the head, then run it for another 30 to 40 mins at light throttle.

this is the info I was given with my cylinder after it was repeated, they also gave me a small amount of castor oil to wipe over the cylinder and piston.

did you "leak down test" the motor after you got it all assembled?...you could have an air leak.
how's the spark plugs color?
