Title: Kickstarter Assemby
Post by: MXonaKawi on April 12, 2014, 01:57:43 PM
How is this part #13061-1713 removed?
It looks grimy and like it needs to be cleaned out and maybe replaced on my bike. I'd like to take it off, clean it and make the determination whether or not to clean it or replace it. Please help guys. Thanks!

it should slide off the kicker shaft fairly easily....if not, you might have to persuade it a bit and gently pry it from different angles...it'll come off.
the shaft splines could be smoked...or the kicker boss could be smoked, or it could be a combo...just keep working it...a little PB Blaster might help loosen things up a bit too.

Sometimes they don't come off easily for various reasons.
If your having problems, heat can be your friend.
Heat and slide grips can be your best friend.

Thanks Guys! I used my Liquid Wrench Penetrating Oil and my blow dryer. I got it off. The splines look great on both the kicker boss and the shaft. I think I'm good. I cleaned both up and put some penetrating oil on both and pushed it on and off until it came off and on smoothly. Should be good to go now?

I'm sure it will work now.
It does appear to be somewhat worn but give it a go and see what happens.

Thanks! Here it is now. Which part appears to be worn?

Just because it looks worn doesn't mean that it wont work ok.
It may just be a bit sloppy..

Haha sloppy in terms of how it feels each time I kick it over?
