at the european vin-code must come a letter after kx250...

A= 1974-1981, B= 1982, C= 1983/84, D= 1985/86, E= 1987 , F= 1988, G= 1989, H=1990/91, J= 1992/93, K= 1994-1998, L= 1999-2002, M=2003/04, RR= 2005-2008 ...

 compared to the engine-number i think your vin-code is : kx250G - 000256  = the 256. produced frame for the 1989-model.
which fork is installed ? a 43mm conventional fork or the 41mm upsidedown? the usd came in 89 to the european kx 250 and 500

Yes then it seems its an 89!
@ motopunk it has the 41 usd fork.
thanks for the help guys, i have a 09 KLX450R and a 04 kx250r, and this old machine
still puts a cheesy grin on my face when i ride it...  :-D
needs alot of work though, possible carb float issue as it pours fuel out all the time and a few leaks
