14073-1772
Is the duct for the air filter of a 2000 Kawasaki KX 125. I've heard this item was discontinued by the manufacturer, but I am hoping that there are still some brand new ones in circulation. Any thoughts? Do 03 ducts fit? What do I do?
-
According to Kawasaki 14073-1772 fits 2000 KX125 only.
Might try here for a new one:

Already sent them an email. Not in stock. And no longer produced by the manufacturer. I need to find either a person or OEM site who has one just chilling in stock on a shelf somewhere. Lol. Longshot

airfilters fitment is kx125 /250 90-91 and 94-2008 ... only in 92 and93 were a biger airfilter in use...
i rather buy some twin air filters... aftermarket is much cheaper than stock... you get 4 for the same price as 1 oem-airfilter...
there could be diferent numbers in every year, because of a material change, but fitment is the same... i used the 2008 airfilters in my ´97 kx250 without any problems... :-)

Except..... The one in this ad will only fit 90-91 KX250 14073-1428.
It is too big for the 125 :-P
-
I do have a used one but my understanding is you only want a new one..

I kinda wanted a brand new one with that fresh plastic smell and shine. But if that's not an option I will have to figure something else out... What condition is yours in?
I have the one I got with the bike but I feel like using that is like putting hubcaps on a ferrari.
-
I have 4 of them in storage.
I would have to pull them and inspect them.
I'll do that in the morning and get back to you.
However, if yours isn't leaking or weather checked you can make it look very nice by cleaning it really good and using any number of rubber or vinyl treatment products.

Oh wow ok that'd be awesome! I'll check mine too later this evening and see what the condition really is.
-
Ok, I won't do anything until I hear back from you.

Kawasaki sucks at producing parts for bikes older than 10 yrs

I cleaned up my airbox duct today. It has a gash in the rubber and some parts are really worn down. Think you you can let me know what condition yours are in? I'd say mine is in fair condition. I'd like to get one thats in good or mint condition.
-
I'm sure I have a good one.
Mint?
Probably not.
I'll let you know on Monday.

CMS has them in stock. cms has the biggest NOS inventory in the world

89: you raise a good point.
Are there other manufacturers who keep more parts around for older bikes? What about your CR250? Was it tough getting parts for that one?
So....
What about Honda?
Yamaha?
Suzuki?
-
They got rid of team green.....
-
yep ...cms has still tons of oem-parts... :-).. but my thought is, why an very expensive oem-filter, when you can buy 3-4 aftermarket filters for the same money, that will do exactly the same work!
ktm for example has twin air-filters in stock... in aftermarket, you can buy exactly the same twin air filter like the oem .. the diferance is the package and higher price... 8-)

He's not looking for a filter...he wants the "duct"...or "boot" as some guys call it.

For my 89 cr250 All the oem parts even NOS (discontinued) oem parts were a piece of cake to get. But the nos parts cost a ton. And the oem parts that are available from Honda were dirt cheap.
end result is a %100 stock oem bike. (yes it is an 89 with 87 forks)

As much as I'd love to order it. It's an $18 part. On this site with shipping from the UK, it will cost me just over $80. I'm not sure I want a new piece of rubber that bad.

any word?

Yeah, got tied up yesterday.
I'll get some pulled, find the best one, and get some pics for you.

Totally understand. I appreciate that amigo!
-
I sent you 12 pics.
The first 6 are as the boot came off the box.
The last 12 are after a quickie wipe down and some vinyl protectant.
It's not perfect as it is how old?
But it has no cracks or checking and will work just fine.

not uk... cms is located in the netherlands... :-)
oem-parts are always expencive and for older bikes hard to find ... i think you should buy one of the good used from sandblaster...
