Title: Water pump oil seal replacement question.
Post by: beatthat on July 11, 2013, 12:13:58 PM
I am trying to replace the oil seals on my 1992 kx 125. I Cant figure out how to remove the impeller to get to that seal. How do i remove it? I tried with it all together and with it out and with it it, it just spins the engine and out i cant stop it from turning.

Also does anyone happen to know what size this oring is? I know that it is a square oring but thats about it.  (http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7435/9263787871_c11f6f7bee.jpg) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jacobmarquis/9263787871/)

have you setted 2nd or 3rd gear while doing this??  (use the compression of the engine)  you could also use a heatgun do heat up the little nut on the impeller before removing...

and why not measure out the o-ring??  thats the easiest way to find it out...  :-D

Providing your case surfaces are clean and don't have any knicks or gouges, then just the gasket will be fine.
If you use the Cometic gasket, you never have to worry about it...because they're rubber coated metal gaskets that act like their own sealant.

if using new gasket, clean the surfaces and i do a little bit oil on the gasket. that makes sure, that the gasket dont glues or will not  be destroied by removing the sidecovers etc... sometimes you can use the same gasket again... ...
