That's a new one to me.I had 2 CR125's back in the day,and they both had 6 speed gearboxes.I know at some point/year they changed to a five speed...late 90s or so....but I'm not sure if Honda kept the 5 speed through-out the rest of it's exsistance,or went back to the 6 speed.. :|...I never heard of a CR125 that had a 7 speed gearbox....but maybe I'm wrong  :|

*Edit*....See if the guy will let you take it for a rip before buying it...then you'll/we'll know if it really does.

I smell a BS owner. If anything,  CR's went from the std 6 speed to a not well loved "5 speed" trans.

I still have my cr125 from 96 and it has a 6 speed gearbox. Maybe thinks neutral is a gear :-D
I believe in 98 they changed to 5 speed.

the guy is totally convinced that it has 7 . if it has then it has been modified, would there be any gain

Again, see if you can take it for a ride and see for yourself....but unless he's some Master Wizard with CR125s and figured out a way to add another gear,I'd stay clear from it...before he starts telling you it's a twin cylinder.  :-o

I read on a bathroom wall that Honda also produced a secret R&D  CR250 3 stroke engine.

hold it, he said it had 7 gears, not that it had a 7 speed gearbox, so that makes it what a 3.5 speed  :-D

I have only researched the following:
82-97 CR125 6 SPEED
98-07 CR125 5 SPEED
I have all the gears and shafts listed on those years here:
http://www.oem-cycle.com/HONDACR125BIKEID.shtml (http://www.oem-cycle.com/HONDACR125BIKEID.shtml)

Be sure to scroll way to the right :-D

Any chance you could fit that 6 speed in a cr250? Now that would be a fun bike

nope, but you can put in a wide-ratio trans. in it
