good looking bike...
I remember you saying in the "Pipe for mx" thread, that it had some homebuilt set-up for the silencer on it. Looking at that pic, it "appears" to be one off a mid '80s 500, maybe an '85-'86-'87 :?....that should explain any homebuilt mounting crap you're referring to.
The green swing-arm's different!.
MRDART:
Aha thats why? I remembered the big oval muffler from my 91... Yep swingarm will be blasted to get rid of the green... Frame and subframe will go for powdercoat... Sadly they destroyed the coating on the upper forks might out the forks from my kx450 on it instead depends on the condition inside the forks...
Foxx4Beaver:
correct, the '91's silencer would have been oval....unless it's an aftermarket, which the Richter Privateer was the only round silencer I can think of that was around at that time, I'm not sure if Pro Circuit had a round one out then...but it doesn't look like either one of them.
make sure to take plenty of pics of your rebuild progress, and post em up :-D

Here is my 2004 KX 250 I bought off Craigslist. This is on the trailer after I picked it up in rural Southeastern Oklahoma:
The motor had a slight compression problem as you can see:
The piston was a bit unhappy as well:
My son and I blew the motor apart and rebuilt it with a fresh replate from Millennium Technologies, a Wiseco piston, and all new gaskets:
Since the rebuild, I've added Tusk Wheels and MX 31 tires, 2007 KX suspension redone by Factory Connection, ASV Levers, new side panels rear fender and fork guards, 2014 KXF front fender and number plate, and 2008 KXF Shrouds. I'll be adding DecalMX graphics this weekend.
It's a very fun bike to ride. Love those old two strokes!
