Friar-Tuck:
I'm no expert that's for sure.
Most of these kinds of diagnosis start with an old timer asking what your numbers are:
A compression test and a leak down test.
Then the conversation has some more ideas and then it gets to:

One of the best ways to mod the bike is go through the engine and freshen it up so you have a good baseline or
foundation to build on.  Or That's the only way You know what you've got in the engine

Do you need to keep the bike running 'til off season or are you ok with going through the bike now?
The bottom line with most guys is how to finance the project and a plan to work it out.

You already are on top of diagnosis,

Man those cameras are cool and that is where the engine builder guys are gonna recognize something.
Think about it and the vids are probably 2nd best to the compression test and a leakdown.

KevenW:
yeah friar-tuck. I'm gonna do the vid when i get time. I talked to the mechanic yesterday and told him I thought it needed a leak down test and compression text. it's pretty hard to kick so we both think the compression is fine.  I'm just gonna see what you guys have to say about the vid first and go from there.

KevenW:
My intake boot has alot of tiny cracks in the outside but when I took it off to check my reeds while rejetting the carb after I bought it, there were no cracks at all on the inside of the boot. so It shouldn't be getting any air leaks there.
