Pikes Peak 14,114 feet is a mountain in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, 10 miles west of Colorado Springs, Colorado, in El Paso County in the United States of America.
Mount Evans is a 14,265 feet mountain in the Front Range region of the Rocky Mountains, in Clear Creek County, Colorado. It is one of 54 fourteeners in Colorado, and the closest fourteener to Denver.
Mosquito Pass 13,186 feet is a high mountain pass in the Mosquito Range of central Colorado in the United States. The pass lies on the boundary between Lake and Park counties between Leadville and Fairplay.
The awesomeness of the pikes peak race just sounds ... Off-road racing is truly the highest form, right next to indy cars on the world wide city street circuits

naw.. colorado .. thats all cake walk.. altitude is natural... been a backpacker int he seirras for years.. have had my KTM over 13,000 before.. runs fine (thank god for CV carbs) I have also done alot of colorado before.
Utah.. well thast just like my local riding... sand and rocks.. so Im at home in utah...
out of all of it.
Idaho scares me most.. as the trail I chose to follow is layed out in the Idea of a Plated CRF450 would run them..... Not a 640 ktm loaded for a month and a half....
I did my best to route around the "challange" points.. but May have missed a few..
ps... T-MINUS 6 DAYS

Another packing tip..
I picked this up, YEARS ago when I did ALOT of backpacking (on foot) in the sierras.
Works good as.
First aid
Sterilizes things
pain killer
antiseptic
cleans things well (think rubbing alcohol)
and with a bit added to your hot chocolate at night, when its cold out... is just...

And after enough, if your KX500 is handy, you become invincible!
Danger4u2:
What a year. You won't have to worry about snow in the mountain passes, just fire and the occasional flash flood.
cobbs:
talk about fire I was just up in ft Collins and it was very very bad it looked like an apocalyptic wast land just thick smoke and lots for ash miles hopefully this will not interfere with your ride I don't think it will
