chris-mets:
Cant Wait!!! Expected delivery is the 29th and Im going up to connecticut to pick up the ktm 50. So ill be riding the little 50 with not much power until I can do some real riding on my new KX60!!! Thanks so much Tuck! I hope to do the same thing to a kid when I am older!
I will run that B8 plug the first few days as you said then change it to the normal B9...Do you just know and you can feel when it is fully broken in?

If I remember the book says to do a few heat cycles and then ride the bike the first half hour at no more than half or 3/4 throttle. After that let's see what she's got! :lol:It's GO TIME!
You'll have to go back and read it.
After the half hour session check the plug . Your gonna have to determine if you need the #9 plug by what the #8 looks like. Trail riding I would think the 8 is good. but you have to look at the plug and the chart in the manual and make a decision.
If you are holding the throttle wide open for more than 30seconds at a time you need the #9 plug.
Hows that for a rule of thumb.
I have seen those things run 30seconds wide open and you need a lot of real estate to be able to do that in!
The heat ranges on the ngk plugs need more heat to reach operating temp the higher the number.
So a b7es is going to get alot hotter (all things being equal) than a b9es
The plug needs to get hot enough to keep most of the oil burnt off and not foul, but cool enough not to burn a hole in your piston!

Ok I will check. I usually would keep the throttle open for about 20 or 30 seconds. Ill look into it after the engine is all ready and thrown in the bike. The hardest part of me reassembling it is the swingarm bolt and getting the chain on...I put the engine back on the bike without unscrewing the back wheel or anything so its pretty difficult. I doubt this bike will have any problems when its running now. The only thing Im scared about is when Im high in the powerband im scared ill flip the bike. I like speed!
