'97 vs. '01

Hey all,
I have a '97 and just picked up a '01 KX250.  If you haven't already guessed, I want to combine the best of each bike to build one great ride!  Other than the ignition system and carburetor, are there any differences in the two bikes that I should consider?  Are the Forks and Shocks the same? Swing arm and links? Triple Clamps? Breaking?  Any help will work?
