250 shock question

stevea100m:
Thanks guys. Im tryin to track down a stock 450 tank to try it before i buy one. I race harescramble and my kx250 ts the way it is right now has a 3.1 gallon tank so if the 450 fits then im not losing fuel capacity.

royceymon@hotmail.co.uk:
i presume harescramble the same as enduro in the uk ,what time do you ride for? when i was doing enduros ( 3 hours ) on my kx250f i would have to fill up mid race and still have a bit left at the end , dont think i would like a bigger tank ,makes it heavier and not so easy to flick through the wood sections . when i had my kx250 with a larger tank i still had to fill up through the race and it was a monster to handle with the extra fuel! i rode in the over 40s expert class , without being rude it depends how quick you ride on the fuel consumption front. we do sometimes get a "sprint scramble" event but thats two 1 hour races ( not back to back).

stevea100m:
A harescramble here is a 3hr multilapped race. My 03 kcx250 and my 125 both have 3.1 gallon tanks and i dont notice a difference between the stock tank and the IMS tank. Im riding it in the pro class here in michigan so havin more fuel is always a plus. I usually have to fill up at the half hour area and ill have just enough left at the end.

Hi steve wot kind terrian are your mitchigan tracks like ? easy going or heavy wood sections have you any pictures? my kx250 was an 2003 as well def 450 eaters espesh on the starts .do you do dead engine starts as well , sit on the bike/run to the bike? if you look on the net the people i used to ride with is "track n trail" (uk)
