Powerfiend and others, 05 up KX250 Clarke Tank pics
The Flyin Hawaiian:
Here are the long overdue pics for those of us doing a 03/04 KX250/500 conversion. Its of a 05-07 KX250 Clarke large capacity tank on the my 04 frame with the 500 engine sitting in it. Clears pretty good but needs a bit of clearancing in spots. Im going to move the rear headstay mount over some to line it up with the head mount and give the petcock some more room. I cant put the headstay bolts in because they hit the tank.
PowerFiend:
You're AWESOME!!! :-D
That is a waaayyyy better fit than trying to use the 03 clarke tank. The front petcock bolt on the 03 clarke is right over where the head stud screws into the cylinder, so it is pretty impossible to use. ie. You would have to try to move it to clear both the head and the stud nut.
Looks like you have a shortie ECM plug mounted in the pic, am I right?
PowerFiend:
It also looks like there is room for the Larry's decompression mod with that tank.
PowerFiend:
P.S. What shock do you have installed, it looks like a newer one (bronze color). And what are you using for a Pipe/silencer?
The Flyin Hawaiian:
The forks and shock are off of my girlfriends 07 KX250, shes been using her lowered suspension from her old 04 KX250 to save a few bucks. Im riding her old 04 with the suspension from my 04(the 250/500 conversion bike) Little confusing! The 07 stuff is a direct bolt on, same length shock etc. The 07 stuff hasnt even been ridden on yet! Im using the Service Honda pipe and Q silencer. That is the shorty plug from the 07 250. We run B8EG's instead of the short plugs. Ill run the short plugs in the 500.
