Maybe not on yours, but I have seen a post by AJ on either this site or another.   He said that they remove material on the cylinder side.

It looks like you could remove about 7mm on the cyl. and another mm or so on the flange.  I know that would have helped me alot.

I've got a spare brand new cylinder. I'll take a look and compare both cylinders. I hope Service Honda didn't remove cylinder material when it would make more sense to just modify the pipe where it was neccessary.

Checked my new cylinder against the cylinder on the bike. Service Honda did not machine down the cylinder coolant port boss on my AF.

i have had an idea with regard to putting the cr pipe on the kx. the plan is to make an adaptor to fit between the kx ex port and the cr pipe. it is better explained in a drawing. pic 1 is my idea.
in order to make this part i need the dimensions of the cr exhaust manifold which is No 12 in pic 2
if some one has a cr manifold laying round, could i ask them to tell me what dimensions a,b,c,d,e, and f are in pic3
any help or opinions would be apreciated
thanks john

ZETTNORCAL:
Sounds like just another place for a leak.  I have 3 cr500's and all of them have problems with the pipe leaking at the manifold.  I would just cut and weld on the kx5 inlet.   My homemade pipe on my SFconversion works GREAT!

Just my thoughts though.

jonny500:
your thoughts are welcome zett, thanks. i would say exactly the same 2 joins is 2 places to leak. perhaps i should have given my reasons for this idea. the first is that if i flatten or damage the pipe i will be able to take a cr pipe of the shelf and fit it straight on. the second is that i can adjust the pipe length by make different size adaptors, after all i am using a cr pipe on a kx. i will try this idea and see if i can get it to work as i think the benifits long term are worth having. however if i cant i will weld it. do you have a manifold you could measure, would be much appreciated
thanks john
