jinxy:
hi guys im toying with and idea to buy
a english version KDX 125 say around 1990s
and fitting a Kx 250 engine from the same era
i Know the frames very are similer. there are a lot of
silly laws in england that why i will keep it registerd as a
125
what do you think, i may sell my 1984 kx250 to do this

If you want a toy to ride on the street there's nothing better than a street tagged dirt bike.  I say go for it.  If you need a bike to ride on the street get a street bike.  It's hard to keep a drivers license riding a 2 stroke dirt bike on the street.  If you drive within the law they are VERY boring.

jinxy:
yea i do have a road bike as well ,the fact its hard
in england to find some where to ride my KX250
and then you have to transport your bike there
if i had the KDX125 ,i could ride it to the location

I used to ride to the off road areas.  The problem I encountered was tire wear.  If I mount the tires (tyres, Yes?) I needed for off road they wear out real fast.  If I run a 50/50 street/trail they fail miserably once I get off road.  If I want to ride off road I transport.  I have 2 sets of wheels for the KLR650 and the KX500 I have street tagged.  There is no way around it, a good street tire is just that a good street tire.  The same goes for dirt tires.  Good on dirt bad on the street.  The best dual purpose I have used is the Continental TKC-80.
They come stock on some of the BMW dual sport bikes.

They wear ok on the street but they fail BIG time if you get in the mud.  They "chunk out" real bad it you get into rocky mountainous terrain.  If you like a tire off road you won't like it on the street and vice versa.
I left out that when I transport I still ride a bike to the off road area......................

That is a very badass rig. I had never thought of using a touring bike to tow a dirtbike, but it makes perfect sense. Now I REALLY want a Street Glide.
