First day out... Hilarity ensues.
LoveYouChunk:
Well, went out with the KX500 early yesterday morning. Got about 2 hours of real riding done at the most. I joke about this all the time, but I sincerely ended up in the hospital the first time out, so I figured I'd share it with you guys. There is a little speculation as to what exactly happened, but I got bucked and d**n near broke my Coccyx (Read: My butt). All said and done, there were about ten x-rays and probably a multi-thousand dollar hospital bill. Nothing is broken on either me or the KX, but I apparently won't be riding for a few days as I can't even comfortably sit on my couch, let alone a bouncing bike in the trails. We'll see how I feel come wednesday. So here ya go, the results of a 12 year off-time and a five-hundie. Stay tuned, I'm sure there will be more to come.

Wish you a speedy recovery! WOW
Platypus:
At least you didn't post pictures of your "Coccyx". Just remember you aren't getting paid to ride the beast.

Oy-Va...
There is an issue with the rear shock "spike"....I'll look for som more info.. I was riding my buddies '99.
hit a rock and the rear end kicked up and stood me up on the handlebars in the classic "Frog looking down at gascap"
Kind of thing.
When I got my '2000 the suspension had already had some work done to it. It is amazing how much different a bike rides when the suspension has been set up for you and your riding level.
I hope you have a speedy recovery. Please read up on suspension tuning.
you'll save your Butt...yes... pun intented

I don't think it's a suspension issue, I think it was an accidental shift that threw me off. As we were riding down a pretty bumpy little trail, the bike just decided to stand right up and fly away in front of me, leaving me to take the fall all by myself about 6-10 feet behind it. When Goat got back and picked the bike up, he saw that it was in a very low gear--I think he said it was in first (at 25-30MPH?!)--so I think as I was standing up on it going over those little bumps, my toes accidentally hit the shifter and dropped it into a lower gear, forcing the torque way to high and firing the bike away like a bullet. All said and done, I still hurt and I still can't sit right, but today is better than yesterday. If the trend continues this way, I'll be back on it Wednesday to try again. Thanks for all the positive well-wishes, everybody!
