Hi Im Lance
Friar-Tuck:
Welcome Lance,
That is good advice to the Logan,
Throttle control was the the most important thing I found to keep from getting in trouble too quickly.
Other than that, these old motocross bikes can do just about any kind of riding you can throw at them with little modification.
There are some other things tall riders can do to help with the fit. Tall seat foam, adjustable pegs and handle bar risers/offsets. I'm not gonna tell you it will be cheap to swap out those things.
Seat foam is about $60.oo seat cover $40.00 fastway adjustable pegs are around $100.00
bar Riser/offsets are around $80.00 and either an ATV bar or specialty type handle bar $100.00
Welcome again

Yo lance! Welcome to the site, you are now part of the best k x resource on the Internet , plenty here to learn from and share. I'm in the same little boat as you, 6'6, down to 235lbs, I was 275 and my k5s are sprung for that extra tummy. I've posted about bar risers and which bar bends the supertall like best. I had 250s as a teen, but upon discovering the thrill of the 500, I wondered a loud " where have you been all my life". Check out the AF convertions if you want the best of both worlds.
What size riding boots do you wear? I've never met someone our size in anything smaller than a 14 or 15. I'm lucky enough to have some options in a. Sz15.
oh, yeah, I'm in PA too. NW corner- Erie area. Welcome home!

Awesome, Tim we should hook up and ride some time, i wear alpinestars tech 3 in a 15, but luckily they run large, i wear sz17 nike shoes. have you ever been to wellsville to ride? we go alot and i know my way around quite well.
I'd like to get my engine in a more newage frame, possibly an aluminum cr or steel kx250. just dont have alot of money to do so. do you guys think it would be better to make myk5 better for me with tall seat and all the other tall man upgrades or just say save dough and build a kx500/250 hybrid?
Thanx,
Lance

thanxs lance. hey could you tell me what kind of thing you did to your suspension? or did you crank up the rear spring?
bansheemaniac:
I took it to a guy in my area he's an mxtech specialist, idk off the top of my head what he did but wen i get home from school today i can look in my kx file on my pc and see what all he did, i do know that he milled the inside of my forks to fit a larger set of springs, and the rear i put on a spring from my kfx700quad, seems to be working good so far but will proly need to get the rear specifically set though, i havent had the chance to ride since october because i broke 4 ribs when i went down in a rocky area. but i wioll let you know my setup when i get home today.
Glad i can help you out,
Lance
