100 cylinder on an 80
(1/1)
EricRomanoff:
Hello to all!
Just picked up a 2000 KX80 that needs a top end due not cleaning the air filter. I'm wondering if I can replace the top end with the 100 clinder and piston? If so do I need the 100 carb? And pipe? Thanks in advance for the help!

I have the same question except my wifes 80 is a 1999 and I also thought about putting a flywheel weight in it too make it more user friendly. AAAAny help would be appriciated. 8-)
DoldGuy:
Yes the top ends just bolt on to a KX80 & Kx85 bottomend (using the same years). The carbs are the same with different jetting. The pipes have a different part number but a buddy has used both with no difference noticed. Also note the 100 has a different head which you can have the 80/85 machined to suit.
Hope this helps

Sapper:
a few other things you need to do: use a 100 cdi box (timing curve), and change the needle in the carb. If you have a service manual for it, you can compare the differences.
