1990 KX250 motor in pieces
(1/1)
madbikebreaker:
I just bought this bike last night and i am already wondering what did I do? Has clean title and is in decent shape minus the engine is all apart. Has newly rebuilt crank assembly in plastic. What other years will fit in my frame with out modifying it? I have never seen this type of engine apart and it looks kinda scary. I don't mind waiting for a decent engine to show up, but I don't want to chase the wrong ones.
Thanks,
Dave

By a shop manual and start building it! :-D
You'll learn a lot and have a great motor when you're done, provided you inspect everything and replace what needs it.

88-91 KX250 and '91-'94 KDX250 should fit rather easily with only the coolant hoses and fittings needing to be addressed depending on the year.. the '92 newer engines will fit too, but use a larger swingarm bolt so a bushing would be needed..

Hey thanks for the info. I have bought a manual and started to fix this one, but it is going to take awhile. Would like to find one with a few hours left in it to ride for now then I would be more inclined to do my original right.
