FAT PADDLE KX500
bykas:
Hello, I'm new to the site and have something you KX500 enthusiast might like. I call it my FAT PADDLE KX500. This bike handles and corners unbelievably well at the dunes. There is no squirley unpredictable handling like most bikes in the sand. I'm runing a custom jackshaft swingarm with a 22x11x10 8 paddle, the traction is insane. In the front I'm running a 16 inch rim with a 120 tire, barley fits in the forks but works perfect. Nothing can touch it at the dunes. Will post new pics when I get my new graphics. Let me know what you guys think.

I absolutely love it!! I've always wanted to try something like this for the KX5. Did you build the swingarm? Where can I buy one?
KX500freak:

Wow its a super motard for the dunes.. I love it.
One question though, do you do much jumping?
Here in the Southern California dunes, I normaly jump into the BIG bowls.... And needles to say, I have tagged the frame on the ground more than I wish to admit (due to jumping at an angle (dune like a wall) and bottoming the bike (old suspension at the time).... It hurts.
Just the first thing to come to my mind when I see how low it is. Would be a Killer dune shreader though, and a blast in the nice twisty sections...
It must wheelie like a dream with that back tire... Im jellous..

Actually the picture is a little deceiving. It still has 13" of clearance which is 1" more than my trx250r dune quad. I'm 46 so don't do the big air jumps anymore. On small to intermediate jumps it works just fine, no problems. I actually try to stay planted on the dunes as much as possible and just blow by everyone. It is an absolute blast in the twisties up and down the walls. Your right about the wheelies it will do them all day long in 5th just cracking the throttle. It does have a 540 big bore kit which makes it that much funner :-o.
