super thick oil

(1/2) > >>

Wizzy214:
99' kx250 blew a crank seal, (less than 10hrs on new bottom end)  bike smokes like crazy..im running atf in the tranny. so changed oil to 85w still smoking like crazy, if your behind me your covered in smoke. theres a crap load of spooge that runs down my silencer dark black....changed oil again. so then i put in a super thick oil ..... a full bottle of motor honey rode for about 20 mins.........no more smoke.  in that 20 mins i cleaned off the bike of spooge and dirt and dust..came back and bike had a lil spooge but nothing to what it was before.....rode about 50 miles of trail that day no smoke.

can this oil do damage to the clutch plates?

this is a temp. fix but just wondering if it could harm anything in the tranny or clutch?

do you have to split the cases to replace the seal?

thanks

Wizzy,
I am not familiar with the product but stuff like motor honey often contains additives that swell seals to stop leaks.  Not sure what it would do to your clutch plates but it is possible that it may swell them a bit and cause extra wear. Likely not a issue.  I think that you can change that seal by going through the clutch side.  You destroy the old seal when removing it but then it is easy to put the new one in. Hope this helps. Cam.

do i have to spilt the cases? can i get to it if it take the clutch cover and the other cover off?(the one that covers the water pump and powervalve) forgot the name......caffine hasnt kicked in yet

KXcam22:
Yes if you pull off the whole clutch cover you should have enough room to get at it.  You may have to pull the clutch off as well, primary gear for sure. Cam.

Wizzy214:
