Maintenance & Technical > KX250 / KX125
high steady rev at start up.
Hillclimb#42:
Come to think of it, my 250 used to do that at start up, too. It was controllable with the killswitch, though. It hasn't done it for awhile now. I always start with the choke and wait till she idles down a bit before turning it off.
For me to read that it is not affected by the kill switch, tells me that it is lean and glowing inside. You really need to verify that the slide closes and that you have not blown a gasket. If it is running, it will keep pulling in gas and can run without spark. It cannot run without air supply.

Hmmmm...I never tried to idle down with the kill switch. I'm gonna try that next time. Ususally, I just flip the choke on/off just enough to keep the RPM's down until the carb "charges". I also lean the bike over before I start it which aids in easier starts.
Good luck on that bike. Let us know what you find.
Jeeks:
Did you get anywhere with the bike?
