I'd personally have the cylinder exchanged for a 310 bigbore, but in your case, it would be cheaper to have it bored a few 'mm' over stock to correct the sleeve flaw.

I am no fan of a sleeve, they tend to run hotter and not last as long. But, for the $$$ I'd stick with your sleeve and have it bored slightly.

I would just have it bored to the next size. The thing to remember with an iron sleeve is that warm up is very important. The aluminum piston and the iron sleeve expand at different rates and you can cold seize the bike If you dont warm it up properly.

  what should be the normal charge for a boring to the next size? i found a  machine shop to bore it ,he said he'd do it for $50 bucks. he also showed me 2 motorcycle cylinders that he had lying there that he was going to work on. looks like he has done them before.

It has been a long time since I had that done and when I did, it cost me $75.00.  So sounds like $50.00 is more than fair but only if the guy really knows what he is doing!  If he doesn't it could be a bad deal for FREE...   :wink:
