stuart1981:
will 4 stroke transmission oil be sutible for my 250 kawasaki reccomends a 10w-40 or 10w-30 the only oil i could find in my small town was silkolene super 4 which is semi synthetic 4 stroke tranny oil, can i put this in my 1999 kx250 bike, going to be using it for the road and green laning
Wizzy214:
i have a couple buddys that use rotella 15-40 in their 2 stroke trannys.
i use atf dex 3 i just change the oil alot, cheap but good. nice clutch action too.
redlined_KX500:
Skip the motor oil and go with the ATF for your 2 stroke tranny.
stewart:
i am having the best luck in my 3 k5s with non synthitic moter oil 30 w..change every ride
Hillclimb#42:
You need to run just oil or ATF. Synthetics designed for four strokes often have lubricants with teflon or other coatings that will cause clutch slippage. A synthetic oil designed for two strokes is OK, but a typical 10w40 or, I guess ATF, is cheaper and performes well. Change oil or ATF often seems to be the key, but stay away from Teflon or other synthetics that may coat the clutch plates.
