Sparky spark arrestor
(1/1)
BrokenSpoke:
I have a clogged Sparky and need to know the best way to clean it out and any mods that would improve the flow and performance. Thanks
MadKaw:
you should be able to remove it from the pipe
remove the screws or poprivits
slide out the core from the housing
pull off the sloppy, nasty old muffler packing
clean all parts of arrester and housing with carb cleaner
get new packing material from moto shop and wrap around the core
slide it back into the housing
replace screws/pop rivits and reinstall the unit
sorry, just figured out you were talking bout an add on.
so, above is for silencer
for the sparky I would try soaking in tub of carb cleaner for at least over night, put on a trash bag T-shirt, and some safety glasses and hit it with the air hose...away from cars or anything else you dont want with black spots... :-D :-D :-D
FPMXer:
My sparky has a circlip in the end of it that you remove and pull the cone out. I soak the cone in a mixture of carb cleaner and gas then blow it out with the compressor. If there is spooge on it that the cleanser didn't remove then I wire brush the crap off and wipe out the inside of the can and reinstall it put it back on the bike. But if you keep up on the silencer it will be along time before the sparky needs a cleaning.
