I might try to instal a thumb throttle on the k5 and see if it helps this weekend .

I have the numbness of the hands sometimes, most of the time it's on my KLR650.  It's hard for me to find gloves that are big enough to fit my hands.  If my gloves are straped to tight around the wrist it will give me problems.  Vibes in the handle bars will cause numbness also.  When I bought my Scotts damper and Pro Taper bars I also installed Scotts hard cones.  That seems to have helped.

It's been happening for yrs , but now it's starting to become WORSE , and the doc says there are surguries in my future . I put the bike up for a few months to give my hands a rest , but it didn't work  . So thats why I wanted to try 1 more time to ride , but ended up with the same results , no feeling in my hands , they just fall off the grips whenever they want , cuz you cant tell when its gonna happen (no feeling)(very scary !!!!)

Don't get cut befor you try this! http://www.carpal-tunnel.biz/

About 30 years ago I had really bad carpal tunnel I went to several orthopedist who wanted to cut, like all surgeons that's what they do is cut! I went to a chiropractor who told me to try one of these night braces. The problem is that once you have the problem it is aggravated by the natural position we sleep in. Your hand fold up when you sleep and if your carpal tunnel is inflamed and irritated it you will wake up with numb hands every morning. I still use the brace every now and again if it flares up!

Don't get cut! :x :x :x

I was curling my wrists under my chin in my sleep.  My girl friend saw me doing it when I went to bed early one night.  She woke me and told me what I was doing.  I looked at my hand and it had a big red mark on the back where my chin was against it.  I wore my wrist braces that were for roller blading.  I wore them for 3 weeks and my wrists got much better.  Every once and a while I have to wear them still.

I NEED A SECOND OPINION !  After reading the stuff that alan posted (HUGE THANKS !!!) , it sounds to me more like tendonitis than CTS ! I have none of the morning pain or constant tingling or numbness . mine happens after a hard ride , or a bad day at work (BUSY) and my hands go numb or ache . I've had arm pump before , and this is not it . I don't know what it is , but I do know  will not get cut ! I will take up a new hobby first .
