doordie:
I run 4,25 and 160-60-17 and shave off little at chainside. You can also loose spokes at left side and thighten them opposite, you earn space at chaindrive and it does`nt mess up so much alignment at it bother anyway.

thanks doordie, the wheel is off for about the 50th time,so i will try what you said, dont get me wrong,i know the chain always seems to catch ,thats why i went for maxxis cos they dont seem to be to wide, just sold my husky sm570r which i fitted avon azzaro,s,the rear being a 150 and once fitted it looked more like a180  i had to dump my o ring chain and go back to standard ,now i have bought a ktm525exc with a 160 continental and o ring chain, misses the chain completely..... :-)

demographic:
When the bikes stationary I have about 3-5mm clearance between the chain and the tyre side, as the bike runs it must slap about a bit cos it still catches on the tyre slightly and makes a spirograph style patern on the tyre.

Of course nobody I know would ever consider taking the very edge of the tyre off with a very sharp knife or even a power planer set to about 1mm...

Losening the spokes on one side and tightening the spokes on the other should also help a lot. Just make sure it's done evenly, if you don't feel upto it send a PM to Brokenlegs who uses the visordown Supermoto section as he has rebuilt the wheels of loads of lads on there..

One of these days I will just bung a chain guard on there so the chain doesn't slap about quite as much and even though I don't legally need one it does look better when I get pulled but I have not yet got round to it.

scarykxer:
:lol:getting pulled  on supermoto,s,sounds like something that happens to those hooligans who cant leave a set of traffic lights without aiming the front wheel at the sky,my local plod seem to have a problem with the glorious sound of a titanium pipe on full tilt in a built up area, whereas i think its one of the best sounds ever, gotta say its 3 years since ive had a kx500 on the road, and the neighbours are dreading the sound of an angry wasp buzzing the area early on sunday mornings but i dont care, cheers for spoke advice,i will tell you how i get on
