Hi guy's , I am new to this forum and I hope it will be as informative and helpful as I think it will be so thanks in advance !!!
I have a 94 kx 500 and it has been the best bike I have ever owned , I almost sold it last week but I chickened out at the last minute and the guy was a little pissed ! hahhahahaha Rather than sell it and buy a new 450 I have decided to put some money into it , I just bought a IMS desert tank ,FMF spark arrestor , Procircuit Platnium pipe and a procurcuit silencer , some new plastic ect . Anyway I am looking for some idea's on a desert \ hillclimb
setup . What gearing some of you are running , has anyone upgraded to the 540 kit, ect ? My buddy works for white brothers and I am taking full advantage of the employee discount , I got my new tank for $125.00 and just ordered a chain and sprocket kit , air filter , reed's , bar's , brake pad's ,a clutch , and I am looking thru the catalogue as I type . Anyway any ideas on a desert \hillclimb setup would be appreciated .

Welcome! I'm sure you will find some useful information to your beast. I've not done the 540, but if you go that high, I believe you have to sleeve it. If I wanted a sleeved bike I'd go with a CR. But, I did max my bore out at 520. So, I'm close.
Again, welcome. The bigbore package is what you need for desert/hillclimbing. But, a pipe and a few other mods will do the trick too. Your KX is pretty much set from the factory. #1 gain in power is to have your jetting correct. That is worth more HP than any other modification I've tried... I've pretty much tried them all. What power do you favor? Torque? Top-end?

Welcome to the kxriders forum! I am glad to hear you kept you KX5. I just picked up a second KX5 to build as my next project bike and it is a 94 also. I guess we will be comparing notes! :-D
Alan :-D :-D
