Saner turo question?

Saner,

I am just curious, your footer says "Turbo". I assume you know things about turbos. Why does it not make sense to put a turbo on two strokers? I have never hear of the concept. Maybe it exists but it does not seem like a common set-up. I considered turbo-ing my GSX way back but never did it because lack of funds. Great technology though.

I have a VTX1800 and it's real fast for a cruser. I can't see putting a turbo on it. More turbo sites, check it out.

demographic:
It's definatley possible to turbocharge twostrokes as theres a few snowmobiles that have them but I am not sure how the crankseals cope with the extra pressure.
I seem to remember Labarynth seals being mentioned
I remember one snowmobile had 351 horsepower though :shock:

  Lots of trick turboed snowmobiles on the here where I live on the western interior of Canada. They need the Hp and altitude compensation to climb the really steep mountains. You can get in a 10,000' vertical ride less than an hour away. I'll have to ask around for some details. Cam.

Saner:
You can absolutely turbocharge a 2 stroke motor, but you would have to build the motor to withstand the compression.  2 Strokes are high compression. Adding a turbocharger will make it even higher, putting both top and bottom end at risk.
