2001 KX 125 ignition

I replaced the stock 2001 kx 125 motor with a 2001 KX 144 motor that I picked up from Eric Gorr.  Everything bolts up except for the CDI box.  The bike that I have has a 4 wires coming off the CDI box and the stator but the 2001 KX 144 has 6 wires at the connector for the CDI box and 6 wires coming from the stator.  I called the local dealer and they said there are 2 different models for that year.  Is there anyway to make it work or will I have to buy the correct CDI?  I still have the old motor and I was thinking about just swapping the electrical compoments to the new one.  Will this work as well?

Thanks,
Chris

To kind of answer my own question it looks like whoever owned the motor before me replaced 2001 wiring with the wiring from a 2003.

Sorry there doesn't seem to be anyone on the site that is familiar with your bike at the moment!

dezracer, it should work fine. Check the stator. If they look the same, check the firing point on the stator. if it is the same and will fit under the flywheel. You will be fine. It should bolt up, I just rebuilt the engine on a friends KX144. :-) You won't be disapointed. They rock!!!

I'm about 99% sure it's the ignition from a 2003.  I'm going to pick up the CDI from ebay and if that doesn't work then I'll swap the parts from the original motor.  The bike is actually for my wife but I'm sure I'll take it for a spin.

Thanks,
Chris
