Punisher3:
Hey guys/girls new to the forum here, I recently bought a 06 kx450 with a Grenaded bottom end. It needs both case halves and a crank, and a cylinder and a laundry list of other parts. I’m curious as to what year model engines will bolt up in my frame or any advice you guys have. I can build the engine myself always been a Honda guy but for 300$ I couldn’t pass it up.

Welcome to the site Punisher3.  Man, you got a steal on that bike!  The parts interchange list that Sandblaster put together show 06-08 having a lot of overlap, so I think anything in that range should have similar motor mounts (if you are thinking about a complete motor swap).  Not to change the subject, but have you thought about using the frame for a two stroke conversion?  A 250 or 500 would look really nice in that frame.

Punisher3:
Thanks for the reply and the interchange list. I’ve thought about swapping it out with a 2T engine but wasn’t sure what all it would entail, if u had to weld or cut on the frame. I weld and fabricate for a living but I’ve never fooled with welding aluminum, but it would be awesome to have an aluminum frame 2 stroke.

Punisher3:
Well I just scored a nice set of 07 cases, transmission, and cylinder for a 07 model, a new piston, crankshaft and every gasket?and seal are next on the list, my question now is will the 06 cdi work on the 07 engine?

ftc:
according to partzilla.com they are different part numbers 21119-0069 for the 07 and 21119-0066 for the 06
each year cdi only lists compatible with that year only so possibly slight programming differences?
maybe it will?  worth a try
