1997 KX500 water pump seal issue's

(1/1)

Forrest:
Does any one have problems with coolant getting into trans oil, from what I can find out the only way is through the water pump seal. In 17 years with minimal riding hours I have replaced 4 water pump seals, 2 water pump (shaft only due to scoring) and one set of bearings. Is there any other way coolant can get into the trans oil. Have been told through the head gasket which doesn't make sense. Milky sight glass after cool down is an indicator plus slight green coolant in trans oil. Funny thing is I don't seem to be loosing coolant out of the radiators. Cheers & hold it on...………..

That's what she said.   :-D

On a serious note, is there any damage to the cases anywhere?  Is the seal a snug fit?  It the shaft scored?
