Draper Lake Ride 2-24-19

(1/3) > >>

umberto:
Danger, myself and my cousin met new member and fellow Okie ssrlewis today for some riding at Lake Draper. The weather in OKC started off pretty cold, but luckily the wind decided to stop impersonating a hurricane today, so it turned in to a nice day with a high in the low 50s. Danger and I took the bus, which was my first time to actually ride in it. It’s definitely well layed out inside, and makes for a great clubhouse at the riding area.  I took my aluminum framed bike, my cousin rode a KTM 200 SX, and Danger rode his parts bike. ssrlewis rode his KTM 250 SXF.

To break everything up, here is a picture of the bus, inside and out:

We started the day off deciding to ride the blue trail. It’s the easier of the three dirt bike only trails. We all remember the trail being around 13 miles, and pretty mild. Unfortunately due to a lot of rain, changes to the trail layout, and fallen debris, the trail ended up being 17 miles long. In a couple of places the trail was impassable due to fallen trees, and we had to hack our way around using only pocket knives. It took us about two and a half hours to slog our way through it, but we were able to ride the entire trail (Danger forbid us using the short cuts). Once we made it back to the parking area, Danger treated us to fresh hot dogs on his portable grill. We were all starving, so they really hit the spot. We decided we were all to old to go back out, so we called it a day.

Here is a picture of lunch.

The bikes got pretty muddy along the way.  Here is a picture of all the bikes in front of the bus before we loaded up.

It took me about 2 hours to get the bikes cleaned up when I got home. It was worth it though for a beautiful day of riding.

KTM's and Kawasaki's! Doesn't get much better!
