I'm a little late on the newbie intro.

funkj:
first off, I want to thank the guys who make this site possible for the time they take in providing and sharing their info and encouraging others to do the same and all those members sharing.

Name is Jeff, I'm a Industrial/control the electrician by trade of near 40 yrs. A long time kart racer dad and past tech for WKA (world karting assoc) and a cylinder head tech for Scca.i have a passion and love affair for two cycles in general. As a hobbyist/guru from snowmobiles, kart motors, several different outboards, Weed eaters, RC  boat motors, my own weed eater and several golf karts and one or two mopeds, a host of Yamaha blasters, and several banshees and one rd-350.

My latest project is a friend of a friend races outlaw kart 500cc with a bone stock kx500 in a world of pro built race prepped  Cr500's and runs mid pack at best. I found this a interesting challenge and have decided to lend this guy a hand. A challenge to see how me as a armature hobbyist measures up to pro engine builders and see if we can be competitive with a engine that next to nobody else runs.

Thanks guys, happy to be here.

After going through a few well known engine and Kart builders engines over the last few years I can tell you this...
The KX500 engine has everything it needs to be competitive...
In fact, it can be quite a handful.
All it needs is some loving care :-)

I'm convinced the Kx is a well kept secret and under rated in karting,
