Will do what?  Be way too big and heavy for a girl 5'4".

Nothing less than 400 lbs is worth bench pressing...

Danger4u2:
KX250 dry weight 213.9
KX100 dry weight 149.9
=  64 pounds more for the 250 and more than twice the horse power.

If she's an experienced rider put her on a 250 for sure.
The thing I have learned about horse power is you can never have enough. It's like having a gun, just because you have it you don't have to use it. Same with horse power, it's there when I need it, I don't have to use it. I ride at Little Sahara State Park in Waynoka Oklahoma. My K5 will climb all the dunes with no problem. I see lots of 250's bog down right before the top. That's lack of horse power.
Check out Little Sahara in Okla. thru the dune guide below.

Let us know how it goes.

With flashearth scroll out till you see the U.S. go over to Oklahoma, scroll over the Northwest part of Oklahoma and look for Woodward. Little Sahara will be a little East and North of Woodward near Waynoka, North of State Highway 412 on S. Hwy. 281.

My friends and I will be riding Little Sahara on 10/27/05 thru 10/31/05. If you or anyone else can join us P.M. me.

the 100 will be perfect. i got my ex a 100 about 21/2 months ago and other than a new crank bearing(i new it had to be replaced after i bought it) its been awsome for her. She weighs about the same.  For a small girl still a novice i found i had to lower the triple clamps on the forks about an inch until they were about a half inch away from the handle bars really made a big difference. At first she was sketchy on the bike but now she asks me to go you wouldnt think lowering it would cause that much change but for her the security of not having to be tippy toed  but on flat foot is a big thing. I warn you about goin bigger than a 100 cause a heavier bike with more power will most likely turn her off cause of fear and if not the first will be harder with more wieght and speed behind it.Also getting her good boots pants armor and helmet and gogles and gloves are a key thing for 2 reasons protection and if its nice lookin stuff (cool s**t) she'll wanna go even more. trust me

Widemouth, I couldnt agree more.  Part of the deal here is getting her a bike that she will be comfortable on and will inspire confidence rather than some 250 that will be big, akward and scary for her.   You make a good point about the gear as well.  She tried on some pants with the hip padding and was uncomfortable about them making her hips look wide.  I was like oh god, here we go...

Also, I find it amusing that she wants black gear or gear with tough colors rather than the pink and purple stuff they market for women.

5'4"  114lbs  I imagine this is her first bike?            250 :?  ???I'm sure you want to pick up her bike all the time when she drops it and kick start if for her everytime she needs it started  . In my earlier reply I was throwing other options out there. If she can keep the 2-stroke in the power band this bike would be great for her. If not I would think a 4-stroker would be the way to go.  Now back to the 250 I agree with Alan on this for anyone that has been riding a while. I currently have a 125 and it gets me where I want to go in the sand. My riding buddies have a YZ400f and a WR426. So I am a little under powered wtih these bikes. I imagine a 250 would be perfect for me (my size) in the sand.
