Kx250 No spark

Hello everyone! :-D My name is Rocco. I am new to the kx riders forum, and I am excited to be a member. I have a 1990 Kx250 that I got back in early January as a basket case. Rebuilt the whole bike, and when I went to try to fire it up for the first time, I found out I had no spark. I tested the ignition coil first and it was bad, so I bought a cheap Chinese coil to just get the bike going. The ohms on the new coil were within spec, went to fire it up and still no spark :-P. The stator I bought off ebay. The coils were both rewound, and the pulse coil seems to be fine as all the resistence's were within spec on the stator. So I tracked it down to the cdi. Found one cdi for my bike on ebay, used, and bought it. STILL NO SPARK :? I am so confused. The cdi''s for this bike are discontinued and aftermarket ones are hard to find to! Anyone have any ideas or recommendations, things I could try. Thank you very much, Rocco.

Hi. Thanks for the quick reply. I have tested all the connections with a test light and they are all good. Has a brand new spark plug on it, even tested it on another bike. Ive checked all my grounds, and I even ran are wire from one of my engine bolts to the ignition coil to ensure there is a good ground. I was wondering though if there has to be a frame to engine ground, so does the engine have to be touching bare frame metal?

I tried a cheap cool with no results and the bought OEM no problems after that. Not saying that's what it is! There is an awesome electrical breakdown sandblaster did on here somewhere, hopefully he can point ya in the right direction

That is something to consider. I heard that you could try to test the voltage coming out of the cdi with a test light, right? Does there have to be a good engine to frame ground?
